Martin O’Donnell, il leggendario compositore che ha creato le musiche di Halo, è stato licenziato da Bungie dopo aver lavorato per loro per più di 10 anni.

La notizia arriva dallo stesso O’Donnell, che via Twitter ha rivelato di essere stato licenziato da Bungie l’11 aprile, apparentemente senza motivo.

Bungie ha pubblicato sul suo sito ufficiale un comunicato che però non spiega le motivazioni di tale scelta, ma semplicemente ringrazia il compositore per il lavoro svolto negli ultimi anni augurandogli il meglio per i suoi prossimi impieghi.

“Per più di dieci anni Marty O’Donnell ha riempito i nostri mondi con indimenticabili suoni e colonne sonore lasciando un segno indelebile per i nostri fan. Oggi, come amici, ci salutiamo. Sappiamo che, ovunque il suo viaggio lo porterà, avrà sempre un futuro luminoso e pieno di speranza. Gli auguriamo le migliori fortune“.

La notizia ha suscitato molto clamore, provocando l’ira dei fan di Martin che chiedono a gran voce la sua assunzione presso 343 Industries, in modo che lavori sulla colonna sonora del prossimo capitolo di Halo.

La sua collaborazione con la software house di Seattle risale a prima che l’azienda fosse comprata da Microsoft. Ha creato anche le colonne sonore di Myth e Oni.
