Affamati di free-roaming? Questa è senz’altro la vostra settimana. Se proprio non vi ha saziato l’annuncio tutt’altro che sorprendentemente a sorpresa di GTA V, l’industria è pronta a servire un’altra portata. Di quelle che ti aspetti, di quelle che all’inizio sottovaluti ma che poi, a pensarci, ti viene l’acquolina in bocca. Avalanche sta lavorando a Just Cause 3. Accoglienza tiepida, scommetto, ma… fatemi finire.

L’ultimo numero di Xbox World parla di una release nel 2012, suggerendo che “gli sviluppatori stanno lavorando duramente” per rispettare le tempistiche fissate dal publisher Square Enix. È ormai chiaro come il team di Stoccolma sia concentrato sulla serie Just Cause, in modo da farne il proprio titolo di punta e finanziare, attraverso i suoi ricavi, altre produzioni minori.

L’esempio più calzante di questa filosofia è l’Arcade Renegade Ops, uno shooter co-op per XBLA, PSN e PC. Giusto così.

“Siamo assolutamente interessati a lavorare ancora sull’IP di Just Cause”, aveva annuito Christofer Sundberg, il boss della software house svedese, dopo il successo del secondo episodio. Pare che i tempi siano maturi, e che, soprattutto, sia lecito attendersi un annuncio da un momento all’altro.

Magari quando si saranno calmate le acque. Vero, Rockstar?

Aggiornamento: Il già citato Christofer Sundberg ha prontamente smentito le voci sullo sviluppo di Just Cause 3 e sul suo conseguente rilascio nel 2012, affermando che il prossimo anno non ci saranno nuovi titoli Avalanche sul mercato.
